It's hard to imagine the coaching staff not capitalizing on one of Forte's greatest strengths, but they reportedly would rather most of Forte's touches come via hand-off. Backup Kevin Jones, whose role is slated to expand, is another smooth pass catcher and may cut into Forte's passing-down snaps. Forte finished his rookie season with 63 catches, the most by any NFL back.

Matt Forte - RB - Bears Matt Forte practices in full, probable
With stud blocking TE Desmond Clark back from a rib injury and Jay Cutler demolishing the competition, Chicago's ground game will be very hard for the Lions to contain Sunday. The Bears should have no trouble moving the rock. October 2

clear.gif
</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>The wrap may have been a result of the hit he took on a costly goal-line fumble in the third quarter. The injury almost certainly won't keep him out of next week's game at Dallas, but he now has just 294 rushing yards through five games. You can't bench Forte and his big workload, but his season is becoming very frustrating for owners.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>It's really hard to believe Smith at this point. The Bears have run the ball 240 times and passed it 340 times this season while ranking 30th in the league in rushing. Chicago's offensive line is not built to run block, and the Eagles secondary is very banged up. Expect another pass-heavy attack this week.

"We would like to play more than one guy," Smith said. "One guy can't take that type of load constantly." Matt Forte seemed open to giving up some carries, saying, "It's good to have two running backs. You can't run every play all the time." Forte also revealed that his hamstring injury from the preseason bothered him more than he let on. It's sounding like a real possibility the Bears will lighten his carries down the stretch.
